This network map shows the long-distance train network in Germany. DB created their own network maps for both EC/IC and ICE trains (links below). However, these maps include almost every single train with the full varieties of served lines and stops. As an alternative, my map focuses on the main long-distance train lines (at least two daily trains per direction). This is why it is possible to aggregate all train categories in one map (EC, IC and ICE). I also had a brief look on the long-distance trains of private companies. However, these trains do not even run twice a day and thus are not included in my map.
The timetables only changed slightly in December 2019. New are for example the IC 17 line from Warnemünde to Dresden as such as the increased number of ICE Sprinter between Hamburg and Cologne (ICE 39 line). The trains from Hamburg to Copenhagen (IC 75 line) run via the Danish mainland and cross the border between Flensburg and Padborg instead of using the “Vogelfluglinie” and the ferry link until the end of 2019.
In comparison to the old network map 2019, I have changed the depiction of the frequency. The width of the line shows the frequency. There is no graphical difference between ICE and IC trains any more. In this way, there are no more dotted lines.
I made an effort on analysing the timetables carefully. However, if you discover any mistake in the maps, please let me know. Just be aware that I had to make numerous simplifications because the long-distance service is at times not very systematic.
