A new country has joined my collection. This new map includes the long-distance trains in Austria. Its design is the same as in most of my other maps. However, there is one major difference. The diagonal axes are not in an angle of 45° but 26° from the horizontal axis. In this way, most main lines can be structured tidily. Without this adaption, many main lines like Innsbruck-Wörgl, Salzburg-Linz or Judenburg-Semmering would have had to be organised with many curvy lines.
On many important railway axes, there are both domestic and international long-distance trains. Many of them connect Austria with most of the next bigger metropolitan areas outside of Austria like Budapest, Prague, Munich, Zurich or Verona. Apart from these regions, also smaller or more distant regions are connected with Austria by a couple of daily trains. This is the case for Venice, Trieste, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Bratislava and South Poland. In order to show most of these direct trains, I have chosen a bigger extent for the map as usual.
Please make sure to have a look at the 2024 version of this map.
