Again, I have updated the map showing the long-distance night trains in Germany for the year 2022. You can find the older versions on my blog.

The timetables of the night trains are quite dynamic. There are a couple of changes in contrast to the timetable 2021. ÖBB operates a new daily line between Zurich, Basel, Frankfurt, Cologne and Amsterdam. In addition, a new Nightjet line from ÖBB connects Paris with Vienna. As a consequence of the new Nightjet line between Switzerland and the Netherlands, Deutsche Bahn adapted their ICE and IC services between Basel and Cologne.

Basel gains an additional night train service, as the western branch of the Alpen-Sylt Nachtexpress leads to Basel and Lörrach instead of Konstanz. As a further development, a new private player is expected to enter the night train market in 2022. The European Sleeper will connect Brussels, Amsterdam with Berlin and Prague as of spring. Details are not known yet. In contrast, Flixtrain’s timetables do not contain trains over night any more.

I made an effort on analysing the timetables carefully. However, if you discover any mistake in the maps, please let me know. Just be aware that I had to make numerous simplifications because the routes and stops vary strongly. Please always refer to the current timetables.

Make sure to have a look at the newer 2023 version of this map.
