I have updated the long-distance train map of Germany again. It shows the systematic ICE, IC and EC trains in Germany. You can find the older versions here on my blog.
This year, major changes concern the ICE Sprinter trains that only serve a few stops. As the ICE Sprinter trains do not have specific differences to “regular” ICE trains, there is no differentiation in the map. One of the changes is the introduction of the line 9 between Berlin, Cologne and Bonn. No stops between Berlin and Cologne are served. Other Sprinter trains have less than three daily trains per direction and are not shown in the map.
In addition, there are some rearrangements. The two-hourly services between Dortmund and Hamburg are now part of the ICE line 42 from Munich and Frankfurt. Therefore, the IC/ICE line 31/91 from Vienna, Passau and Frankfurt ends in Dortmund. In Berlin, the different segments of the lines 18, 28 and 29 to Hamburg or Munich are connected more systematically. Most trains from Berlin to Stralsund are now part of the line 14 from Cologne.
There is a new IC line 34 between Frankfurt and Dortmund via Siegen on a two-hourly basis. One train per day is prolonged to Norddeich Mole. There is also a new daily service to the North Sea from Koblenz to Bremerhaven. As other daily services, these services are not shown in the map.
I made an effort on analysing the timetables carefully. However, if you discover any mistake in the maps, please let me know. Just be aware that I had to make numerous simplifications because the long-distance service is at times not very systematic.
Please also make sure to have a look at the newer version of this map, the map showing the “Deutschlandtakt” or the map showing the night trains.
