Similar to the Germany Map, I have created a map showing the long-distance traffic in Switzerland. In 2017, the national railway company introduced numbers for their long-distance services. In addition, an official long-distance traffic map was introduced. You can find the current version here.

In my map, I have adopted the colours of the lines from the official map. The other characteristics are distinct from the official one. The style is quite similar to the other maps I have created (such as Germany or Denmark). In contrast, the combined lines are displayed in a new manner. There are multiple examples of half-hourly services that are composed of two different lines on an hourly basis (such as IC 1 and IC 8 between Bern and Zurich).

The official map shows all long-distance services depending on the financing system. Only self-supporting services such as international trains, IC, IR and some of the RE services are included. In contrast, my map includes all RE services even if they are part of the regional traffic by law. As there are no differences regarding the tickets, I have not shown the different operators BLS, SOB and the ones on the narrow-gauge and international lines.

Please note the entry about the Evolution of the Swiss Long-Distance Traffic since 1982 and the 2023 version of this map.
